How to fix your Follow Ups in DACH

by Helena Klaus
Jun 18, 2025

I can imagine this isn't just a hypothetical scenario for a lot of you:

📩 You send a GREAT cold email.
😐 Your prospect opens it.
👻 Then… nothing.

So what do most sellers do?
They follow up like this:

“Just bumping this to the top of your inbox…”

Yikes. 😬
In DACH, that’s the fastest way to land in the “ignored forever” folder.

Cold emailing isn’t a one-shot sport.
It’s a strategic sequence built as a full system.

And today, I’ll show you how to follow up like a pro (without sounding like a 🤖).

Let's start with:

🎯 What doesn’t work in DACH:

  • “Just checking in” (🙅‍♀️ sounds like guilt)

  • “Quick call this week?” (🙄 pressure)

  • “Hope this finds you well” (😴 generic and also... waste of space. We both you you don't really care if it finds them well or not. So get to the point)

Instead, let’s follow up with value, context, and a clear tone of voice.

🔁 The Follow-Up That Works

🧪 Our 3 best-performing lines:

  1. “Do you think this is still relevant, or would it make more sense to reconnect another time?”
→ 1 Liner gets replies even after total silence.

  2. “I know things get busy — want me to circle back later this quarter?”
→ A soft out = more trust because it's also your time you want to save.

  3. “Saw you’re expanding the sales team. Congrats! 👏
Have you considered how to bring the new reps up to speed as soon as possible?”
→ New trigger. Same thread. Smart re-entry.

🔁 The Winning Follow-Up Flow (Day-by-Day)

This is the multi-touch cadence working right now in the DACH market 👇

💡Pro Tip: Pairing emails with voice notes on LinkedIn!
Sellers in the teams we are training right now saw a reply rate increase from 7% to 15% in just 2 weeks! 😍

🧠 Why this works:

Because in DACH, it’s not about “hammering the inbox.”
It’s about:

✅ Showing you’re thoughtful
✅ Offering real relevance
✅ And knowing when to let go

Outbound = psychology, not pressure.

💬 Quick Win Challenge:

Take the prospects who ghosted you this month.
Send them this line today:

“Do you think this is still relevant, or would it make more sense to reconnect another time?”

The Psychology Behind Ghosting
Ghosting is one of the biggest silent killers of deals in DACH. You’ve done a great discovery. You had a strong demo. You even got verbal buy-in. And then… 🦗Nothing. No reply. No next step. Mental Health in Sales
We are in the middle of Q4. The pressure is ON!Targets. Quotas. Rejection. Constant outreach. And it affects more of us than we tell. In fact: A survey found 63% of salespeople reported struggling with mental health in 2022, which is only increasing with AI and the fast paced world we now live in. Another found 73% of sales professionals rate their role as highly stressful, with 77% experien...
3 Objection Handling Methods for DACH
Objections. The word that makes almost every seller freeze for a second.  I think it's very important to say one thing here: Objections aren’t Roadblocks! They are signals. They let you know what’s standing in the way of a decision. And that's a good thing! In the DACH region, where trust and clarity matter even more, mastering objections can be the difference between deals that die in silence ...
