Mental Health in Sales

by Sales in DACH
Nov 19, 2025

We are in the middle of Q4. The pressure is ON!
Targets. Quotas. Rejection. Constant outreach.
And it affects more of us than we tell.

In fact:

  • A survey found 63% of salespeople reported struggling with mental health in 2022, which is only increasing with AI and the fast paced world we now live in.

  • Another found 73% of sales professionals rate their role as highly stressful, with 77% experiencing physical symptoms from stress.

So if you’re thinking “I’ll deal with it later”... NOW is the time to act.

Today I want to share 3 techniques you can use this week to protect your mental health while also performing better.

Technique 1:

Set Micro-Breaks & Boundaries

Research shows stress and burnout often come from never switching off. In sales, you may be “on” all the time: calls, Slack, email, LinkedIn.

Action Step: Block 15-minute “no screen” breaks after every 90 minutes of outreach or meetings.
During the break: walk, stretch, drink water, or breathe.

Why it helps: These short resets reduce cognitive load, improve clarity and decrease emotional fatigue.

Technique 2:

Use “What’s Here / What’s Not” Reflection

At the end of each day ask yourself:

  • What went well today?

  • What didn’t go as I wanted?

  • What’s still outside my control?

Why it works: Reflection helps you separate performance from self-worth. In high-pressure roles like sales, that separation prevents you from internalising every “no” as a personal failure.

Technique 3:

Create a Trust Circle with One Peer or Mentor

One of the most effective ways to maintain mental health is simply talking.
Find a peer, manager or mentor you can check in with weekly. Share real challenges, lost deals, pressure, doubt.

Why this helps: Many salespeople feel isolated. According to data, 43% of salespeople in 2019 reported struggle. By 2023 that number was ~70%! Having someone you trust improves coping and performance.

Final Words

I have been pushing my mental health away many times. And the consequence wasn't just a cold. It ended up in dizziness, fainting and several Hospital visits. So this topic isn't a nice to have. It's the beginning and end of our sales success.

If you are struggling with it, talk to us. The Sales in DACH team is always happy to help whereever we can!

Yours,

Helena; Founder @ Sales in DACH

How to talk to Strangers at Events
Be honest: when did you last walk up to someone at a trade fair or event and started talking to them? For a lot of us, that feels strange now, which is not a coincidence. Gartner predicted in 2020 that 80% of B2B sales interactions would move to digital channels by 2025, a forecast that has since been confirmed by McKinsey's 2024 B2B Pulse data. Now Gartner says that by 2030, 75% of B2B Buyers ...
The most powerful weapon in a Sales: Storytelling
Have you ever wondered why your prospect ghosts you even though you have the perfect presentation, the numbers check out and the ROI is airtight?  Almost every time it has nothing to do with your data, but with their 'brain' 🧠! Our brain isn't a data processor. It's a storytelling machine. And the salespeople who understand that (and use it correctly) win! The Data Before we get practical, here...
