Struggling with Gatekeepers?

At some point in their Cold Call Career, most sellers come across the Big G: Gatekeeper!

So they:

  • Talk too fast

  • Sound nervous

  • Immediately start explaining

And within 10 seconds they were qualified out.


 

Let's shift the perspective to this:

The gatekeeper is not your enemy. They’re just doing their job: Protecting time.


 

So how do you get through?

You don’t just ā€œconvinceā€ them.

You sound like you belong there.


 

A simple script that works, powered by Danny Wƶrns

Instead of overthinking it, keep it calm and natural:

You: ā€œHi Ms. Müller, this is Danny Wƶrns from ABC Company. Nice to meet you.ā€

šŸ‘‰ Pause.

Let them respond.

Then:

You: ā€œMs. Müller, is Tobias available? Tobias Mayer? I just need to quickly align with him.ā€


 

If they ask:

ā€œWhat is this regarding?ā€

You: ā€œIt’s about (e.g. commission structures, specifically around the introduction of new SPIFs.) I just need his quick input as Head of Sales.ā€

That’s it. No pitch. No pressure. No over-explaining. Simply showing you belong here.


 

Why this works

  • You use the first name → creates familiarity

  • You sound calm → builds trust

  • You don’t sound like a seller → lowers resistance

šŸ‘‰ You sound like someone who belongs in that conversation.


 

The mistake most people make

They try to be perfect.

Instead of just being Clear. Calm. Natural.


 

Because again:

Cold Calling doesn’t fail because of complexity.

It fails because of delivery.


 

Your task

Next time you call:

Slow down. Pause. Stick to one simple structure.

And notice how the conversation changes.
