At some point in their Cold Call Career, most sellers come across the Big G: Gatekeeper!
So they:

Sound nervous

Immediately start explaining
And within 10 seconds they were qualified out.
Let's shift the perspective to this:
The gatekeeper is not your enemy. They’re just doing their job: Protecting time.
So how do you get through?
You don’t just “convince” them.
You sound like you belong there.
A simple script that works, powered by Danny Wörns
Instead of overthinking it, keep it calm and natural:
You: “Hi Ms. Müller, this is Danny Wörns from ABC Company. Nice to meet you.”
👉 Pause.
Let them respond.
Then:
You: “Ms. Müller, is Tobias available? Tobias Mayer? I just need to quickly align with him.”
If they ask:
“What is this regarding?”
You: “It’s about (e.g. commission structures, specifically around the introduction of new SPIFs.) I just need his quick input as Head of Sales.”
That’s it. No pitch. No pressure. No over-explaining. Simply showing you belong here.
Why this works

You use the first name → creates familiarity

You sound calm → builds trust

You don’t sound like a seller → lowers resistance
👉 You sound like someone who belongs in that conversation.
The mistake most people make
They try to be perfect.
Instead of just being Clear. Calm. Natural.
Because again:
Cold Calling doesn’t fail because of complexity.
It fails because of delivery.

Slow down. Pause. Stick to one simple structure.
